The Tamil Nadu Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (TEDII) funds startups, incubators, and MSMEs.

About EDII, Tamil Nadu

The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Tamil Nadu (EDII-TN) is a not-for-profit society established in 2001 by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It functions as the state's apex body for entrepreneurship education and self-employment promotion, operating under the Department of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). Headquartered in Guindy, Chennai, the institute works to foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem across Tamil Nadu.

EDII-TN connects grassroots entrepreneurs with formal startup support systems through training, incubation, and innovation promotion. It runs nine Business Incubation Centres across the state under the Tamil Nadu Innovation Initiative (TANII), funded by the State Planning Commission. The institute also conducts the Integrated Entrepreneurship Development Programme (IEDP) and certificate courses in entrepreneurship, alongside training in competency development, business network building, advocacy, and business facilitation.

The institute serves first-generation entrepreneurs, students, MSME owners, and innovators, with a particular focus on aspiring entrepreneurs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities who may lack access to mainstream startup infrastructure. By operating incubation centres outside Chennai and delivering programmes in smaller cities, EDII-TN extends startup support beyond metropolitan areas, supporting MSME growth and technology adoption among traditional businesses.
