Tamil Nadu Technology Hub, known as iTNT Hub, is a government initiative established in 2022 by the Government of Tamil Nadu through its IT and Digital Services Department. Headquartered in Chennai, the hub serves as the state's dedicated platform for promoting emerging and deep technology innovation. It operates as a technology network connecting startups, academic institutions, research organisations, and industry partners to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced technologies in Tamil Nadu. iTNT Hub is recognised as India's first state-level initiative focused specifically on building an ecosystem for emerging technologies.
The hub plays a catalytic role in Tamil Nadu's startup ecosystem by concentrating on technology domains that require specialised support beyond what generalist incubators typically provide. It addresses sectors such as deep tech, advanced manufacturing, space technology, and cybersecurity, where startups face unique challenges related to long development cycles, high capital requirements, and complex regulatory environments. By creating a dedicated institutional platform for these sectors, iTNT Hub ensures that Tamil Nadu can attract and retain deep-tech ventures that might otherwise gravitate to Bengaluru or other established technology hubs. The hub works alongside Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (StartupTN) to provide complementary support, with iTNT Hub focusing on technology-intensive ventures and StartupTN covering the broader ecosystem.
iTNT Hub runs programmes that provide startups with access to technical mentorship, industry partnerships, government procurement opportunities, and research collaboration. The hub organises technology-specific challenges and hackathons that identify promising ventures in emerging technology domains. It facilitates connections between startups and Tamil Nadu's strong base of engineering colleges and research institutions, creating pathways for technology transfer and commercialisation. iTNT Hub also works to attract international technology companies and research organisations to establish a presence in Tamil Nadu, building the broader ecosystem infrastructure that deep-tech startups depend on.
