Annal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme

The Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of Tamil Nadu, introduced the Annal Ambedkar Business Champions Scheme (AABCS). Its core aim is to further the economic progress and inclusion of entrepreneurs belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, whose uptake of government entrepreneurship promotion subsidies has historically been low. By extending financial backing for launching new ventures or growing existing ones throughout Tamil Nadu, the scheme seeks to strengthen SC/ST entrepreneurs.

Eligible SC/ST entrepreneurs receive a capital subsidy of 35% of the eligible project cost, capped at ₹1.5 Crore. A 6% interest subvention is also available on loans raised to purchase essential machinery and equipment, lowering the cost of accessing capital. Manufacturing, services, and select trading activities fall within the scheme's scope, encouraging a varied set of business ventures.

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department carries out the scheme through the Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries & Commerce (ICDIC). Ecosystem enablers including FaMeTN, the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), and StartupTN lend implementation support by supplying manpower and resources. A State Level Steering Committee made up of senior government officials conducts quarterly reviews and proposes modifications as needed to keep the scheme effective and far-reaching. Alongside financial assistance, the scheme places emphasis on entrepreneurship development training to build beneficiary capabilities.

From the home page, select "Apply Online", followed by "New Application". 3. Complete registration by entering your Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, Aadhaar Number and Mobile Number. 4. Once registered, sign in with your login credentials. 5. Provide all mandatory information in the application form. 6. Attach every required supporting document. 7. Send the finished online application. 8. Consult the "Dos and Don'ts While Filing Online Application" document for assistance.

Online submissions are first screened for eligibility. Those that qualify move to processing for capital subsidy and interest subvention, which entails appraisal of project proposals and credit linkage with scheduled commercial banks, co-operative banks, Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation, and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs). Implementation of the scheme is reviewed periodically by the State Level Steering Committee.
