About this scheme
The "Subsidy for State Goods and Services Tax (SGST)" operates as a sub-scheme within the "Banglashree for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises" initiative. The Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal, launched this programme, which runs from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2025. The parent Banglashree scheme offers fiscal incentives to entrepreneurs to promote the creation and expansion of MSMEs in West Bengal. Its stated aims include balanced regional development, better resource use, new employment generation, and a wider MSME footprint in the state.
The SGST component provides direct financial relief. Eligible MSMEs with approved projects receive a refund of the net State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) paid to the Government of West Bengal. This measure lowers the tax burden on enterprises and acts as an incentive for investment and growth within the state's MSME ecosystem.
