About this scheme

Under incentive 9 of the Bihar Textile & Leather Policy, 2022, textile and leather units falling in Category A and Category B are fully exempted from the land conversion fees that fall due when agricultural land is diverted to industrial use.

For a promoter setting up a plant on agricultural land in Bihar, this does away with one of the statutory charges payable upfront. The relief takes the form of a waiver, not a cash disbursement, and therefore carries no fixed rupee figure — what a unit saves is exactly the conversion fee that its parcel would otherwise attract.

The Department of Industries, Government of Bihar administers the exemption through the policy's usual application process.
