Wastewater Treatment Capital Subsidy

Under the Maharashtra Industries Investment and Services Policy 2025, the Capital Assistance for Wastewater Treatment and Reuse programme extends financial support towards water management and environmental sustainability in the state's industrial operations. Manufacturing units and industrial entities can draw on this incentive to set up water treatment infrastructure.

The scheme's objective is to widen the uptake of effluent and sewage treatment plants of an advanced nature, which in turn lowers industrial pollution and encourages the reuse of water. Capital costs attached to such installations are subsidised, easing the financial load on industries and making investment in environmentally responsible technologies more workable.

For industrial development in Maharashtra, the initiative carries weight in improving ecological outcomes — supporting growth that is sustainable while water resources are conserved and pollution is brought down.

- Eligible units must follow the application procedure set out in the Maharashtra Industries Investment and Services Policy 2025. - A proposal is to be submitted covering the proposed ETP/CETP/STP project, along with capital cost estimates and a water reuse plan. - Documents sought may include company registration, project report, environmental clearances and financial statements. - The concerned state authority will scrutinise applications for conformity with policy guidelines and eligibility criteria. - Where an application is approved, the capital subsidy is disbursed as a reimbursement once the project is completed and the eligible expenditure and water reuse compliance have been verified.

The Department of Industries, Government of Maharashtra, or an agency it nominates, will scrutinise every application received. Assessment centres on whether the project meets the policy's conditions — the type of plant proposed, whether it falls within the designated industrial areas, and whether the applicant commits to reusing at least 25% of its industrial water. Preference goes to projects that promise the greatest environmental benefit and add most to sustainable industrial development.

Approval is not automatic. A project is selected only if funds remain available and every document submitted has been verified.
