Internet Subsidy Scheme (Goa)

The Internet Subsidy Scheme, introduced in 2018 under the Goa Information Technology Policy, provides financial assistance to eligible Information Technology Units by offsetting expenses for high-speed internet connectivity. Its objective is to lower operational costs for both new and existing IT units, thereby improving their competitiveness within the state’s technology sector. The initiative supports Goa’s aim of positioning itself as a base for IT companies, encouraging investment and expansion.

The scheme recognises the importance of high-speed bandwidth for modern business operations, particularly for IT-focused organisations. By covering a substantial portion of these costs, the Government of Goa seeks to attract new IT investments and retain existing ones, which contributes to job creation and economic growth. The policy undergoes continuous monitoring to assess its effectiveness and sustained impact on the IT industry.

- **Step 1: Register on the Goa Online Portal.** Go to the official Goa Online website (goaonline.gov.in) and select "Register" in the top right corner. - **Step 2: Verify Your Details.** Confirm your Email ID and Mobile Number using the One-Time Password (OTP) system. After verification, you will be taken to the Registration Page. - **Step 3: Complete the Registration Process.** Provide all required information on the Registration Page, choose a distinct Login Name and a secure Password. Review and accept the Declaration and the Terms & Conditions. Enter the Captcha Code and press "Register/Signup" to finish creating your account. - **Step 4: Log In to the Portal.** Access the Goa Online website by entering your Login Name, Password, and the Captcha Code. - **Step 5: Locate the Scheme Application.** From the top ribbon, choose "Services," then go to "IT Services." Find and select the "Internet Subsidy Scheme" to open its application form. Complete all mandatory fields with correct details and attach the necessary supporting documents. - **Step 6: Submit Your Application.** Submit the filled-in form. A unique registration number will be issued once submission is successful. Keep a record of this number for all future correspondence and tracking. - **Note on Application Frequency:** You may apply for this scheme on a quarterly, bi-annual, or annual basis after paying for the applicable high-speed internet charges.

Applications are first screened within 30 days of receipt against a set checklist to confirm that all eligibility conditions and supporting documents are in place. After this preliminary check, qualifying submissions go before an Empowered Committee, which renders a final verdict within 60 days of the application’s arrival. Those approved are issued a Sanction Order, after which the subsidy is released; those that fail to meet the requirements receive a Regret Letter.
