About this scheme
The Department of Information Technology, Government of Goa, runs the Patent Filing Reimbursement Scheme, introduced in 2018 as part of its Information Technology Policy Schemes. Through this scheme, Information Technology Units set up and functioning in Goa can claim reimbursement of patent filing costs, with the aim of encouraging innovation and the creation of intellectual property in the state's IT sector.
Eligible units may receive reimbursement of up to ₹25,00,000 each, covering expenses incurred in successfully filing patents during the policy period. Applications are open to both new and existing IT Units that operate in Goa.
The scheme forms part of Goa's wider IT Policy, which works to establish the state as a favourable geographical and human resource hub for IT Units and to draw investment and expansion within its borders.

Eligibility conditions:
- The IT unit, whether new or existing, must carry on its operations within Goa. - The following legal entities are eligible: Proprietorship Firms, Private Limited Companies, Public Limited Companies, Registered Partnership Firms, and Limited Liability Partnerships. - The bank accounts held by the unit and/or by its partners or directors must be linked to Aadhaar.
How to apply
1. Go to the official Goa Online web portal. 2. Create a new user account: verify your Email ID and Mobile Number, complete the registration form with the required details, set up a login, accept the terms, and select 'Register/Signup'. 3. Sign in to the website with the Login Name and Password you just created. 4. Go to 'Services', then 'IT Services', and select the scheme name. 5. Complete every mandatory field in the online application form and upload all documents that are required. 6. Submit the application. The system will generate a unique registration number; make a note of it for future use. 7. After incurring the relevant expenditure, applicants may apply for this scheme on a quarterly, bi-annual, or annual basis.
How applications are assessed
Within 30 days of receiving an application, the department screens it against a checklist. The Empowered Committee then examines the screened applications and decides on approval, completing this review within 60 days.
Approved applicants receive sanction orders and disbursement within 90 days. Those whose applications are turned down are informed by a regret letter.
