About this scheme
The Registration & Stamp Duty Subsidy Scheme was introduced in 2018 by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Goa. It sits within the state's wider Information Technology Policy, which works to draw IT units to Goa and support investment and expansion there.
Under the scheme, financial costs tied to setting up or growing IT operations are reduced through a direct subsidy covering registration and stamp duty charges. Both new entrants to Goa's IT ecosystem and existing units seeking to expand or consolidate their presence can use the support, which is intended to make the state's regulatory environment easier for the technology sector to navigate.
By absorbing these upfront costs, the Government of Goa aims to drive economic growth, generate employment, and reinforce Goa's position as a hub for IT innovation and enterprise.

How applications are assessed
Once an incentive application is received, it is scrutinised in detail — a step that normally takes 30 days — to confirm that the documents submitted are in order and the eligibility conditions are satisfied. Applications that clear this stage are placed before an Empowered Committee, which is expected to decide within 60 days of the application first being received.
Approval leads to the issue of sanction orders, and the subsidy is then disbursed within 90 days of the application's receipt. Applicants therefore have a defined schedule against which to track progress.
Frequently asked questions
What is the primary objective of the Registration & Stamp Duty Subsidy Scheme?
Goa reimburses stamp duty and registration charges for eligible Information Technology (IT) Units in the state, easing their financial burden and strengthening Goa's appeal as a location for IT investment and operations.
Which types of business entities are eligible to apply for this subsidy?
Proprietorship firms, private limited companies, registered partnership firms and limited liability partnerships operating in Goa are all eligible for the scheme.
What is the maximum amount of reimbursement I can expect?
For eligible transactions, registration and stamp duty charges are capped at ₹100. The subsidy reimburses whatever you pay the authorities above that amount, so the payout depends on the actual charges incurred.

What is the timeline for receiving the subsidy after application?
Once an incentive application is received, it is scrutinised within 30 days, placed before an Empowered Committee for approval within 60 days, and concludes with the issue of sanction orders and disbursement within 90 days.
Does my company need to be newly incorporated to be eligible?
No — the scheme is open to Information Technology Units operating in Goa whether they are newly established or already in existence, as long as they satisfy the remaining eligibility conditions.
