Scheme for Assistance to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME): Assistance for Patent Registration

The Industries and Mines Department, Government of Gujarat, administers the "Scheme for Assistance to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)". This initiative, active from August 7th, 2020, to August 6th, 2025, supports the state's MSME sector, which contributes significantly to employment, GDP, and exports. The scheme provides financial assistance to entrepreneurs and enterprises to improve their global competitiveness.

Under this framework, the "Assistance for Patent Registration" component offers financial support to individuals and legal entities for the costs of securing patents. This assistance is intended to encourage innovation in products and processes within Gujarat. By covering a significant portion of patent-related expenses, the programme lowers financial hurdles for innovators, helping them protect their intellectual property for business growth and market positioning.

1. **Registration:** Go to the Investor Facilitation Portal (IFP) and select "New Investor Registration" to open the registration form. 2. Complete every required field in the form and press "Submit." 3. Confirm your email address by activating the link dispatched to your registered email. 4. After confirmation, your registration on the portal is complete. 5. **Post-Registration:** Return to the IFP and choose "Login." 6. Input your registered email address and password to gain entry to your account. 7. Press the "Login" button. 8. Fill in all relevant particulars and upload the compulsory documents related to your enterprise and the patent to finalise the reimbursement application.

The Industries and Mines Department, Gujarat, examines each application for patent registration assistance. Its review confirms that the applicant and the patent satisfy every stated eligibility requirement, including valid registration during the policy period and submission of the reimbursement request within the prescribed timeframe. After all documents are checked and adherence to the guidelines is established, the reimbursement is released in two instalments, aligned with the patent’s publication and its subsequent certification.
