Jharkhand IGBC Green Rating Subsidy

Clause 6.14 of the Jharkhand MSME Promotion Policy 2023 extends support to units that obtain green certification for their factory buildings.

Under this provision, a unit can claim reimbursement of 50% of the consultancy charges it incurs while securing a green rating for industrial buildings from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The assistance is capped at INR 4 lakh.

The reimbursement is confined to the consultancy cost of obtaining the rating. It does not extend to construction or retrofit expenditure undertaken to achieve the rating. A unit intending to build a green-rated facility should therefore budget separately for the certification consultant, as that is the expense eligible for reimbursement.

- Appoint a consultant and obtain an IGBC green rating for the industrial building - File the application on the Jharkhand Single Window portal, choosing the incentives available under the MSME Promotion Policy 2023 - Attach the IGBC green rating certificate issued for the building - Attach the consultancy invoices together with proof of payment made for the rating exercise

The department does not run any competitive selection for this benefit. It checks the IGBC green rating and the consultancy expenditure that has been claimed, and thereafter reimburses half of that amount, subject to a ceiling of INR 4 lakh.
