Jharkhand Patent Assistance 2023

Clause 6.5 of the Jharkhand MSME Promotion Policy 2023 provides financial support to units that successfully generate, register, and have accepted a patent based on their own original work or research.

The State Government reimburses **50% of the expenditure incurred, up to a maximum of INR 25 lakh per patent**. This support is distributed across the patent lifecycle: up to INR 10 lakh may be provided for costs related to filing the patent, attorney fees, patent tracking, and similar expenses, while a further maximum of INR 25 lakh is available upon final acceptance of the patent.

Since the assistance is calculated per patent, a unit that files multiple accepted patents can claim against each one separately.

- Access the Jharkhand Single Window portal and apply under the incentives offered by the MSME Promotion Policy 2023. - Provide the patent filing or registration documents along with the acceptance letter issued by the patent office. - Furnish invoices and evidence of expenditure incurred on filing, attorney charges, and patent monitoring. - Submit the unit registration papers that confirm eligibility as per the policy’s criteria.

Claims are not subject to a competitive selection process. Instead, each application is checked against the policy’s conditions: the patent must arise from the unit’s own original work and must be duly registered and accepted. The reimbursable expenditure is then verified against the invoices submitted.
