About this scheme

The J&K Wool Processing, Handloom & Handicraft Policy 2020 provides rent-free stalls and also covers the expense of transporting both the artisan and the product to an exhibition.

Units holding a GI certificate and participating in UT or national-level exhibitions may claim all travel and freight charges. This is subject to a ceiling of 4,000 persons per year, with a maximum reimbursement of Rs 10,000 per person.

For a craft unit based in Kashmir, the cost of freight on carpets and shawls, together with airfare or rail travel to a metro fair, often exceeds the price of the stall itself. This incentive is what enables a small unit to take part in national-level exhibitions.
