About this scheme
The J&K Industrial Policy 2021-30 provides a full subsidy on backup power for industrial, commercial and institutional units.
Under this incentive, 100% support is available on a new DG set of 10KW to 2000KW capacity, subject to a ceiling of Rs 40 lakh in Zone A and Rs 45 lakh in Zone B. Eligibility extends to all industries, commercial and institutional units included.
Repeat claims face one restriction: where subsidy has already been taken on the existing power load, a fresh claim is permitted only for the incremental power load. Where no prior claim has been made, the subsidy is calculated on the aggregated power load. The timing of a first claim therefore matters — claiming early against a small load lowers the amount available for later claims.

- Eligible applicants: all industries in Jammu & Kashmir, covering commercial and institutional units - The DG set must be new, with a rating of 10KW to 2000KW - Where subsidy has already been availed against the existing power load, only the incremental power load is eligible - Where no subsidy has been availed earlier, the claim is calculated on the aggregated power load - Ceiling: Rs 40 lakh in Zone A; Rs 45 lakh in Zone B
How to apply
1. On the Single Window portal, register the unit under the J&K Industrial Policy 2021-30. 2. Establish whether the unit falls in Zone A or Zone B, and check whether DG subsidy has already been claimed against the existing power load. 3. Buy and install a new DG set with a capacity between 10KW and 2000KW. 4. File the claim along with the invoice, payment proof, load sanction and installation certificate. 5. The department checks the load basis and disburses the subsidy, subject to the ceiling fixed for the zone.
How applications are assessed
There is no competitive selection involved. Verification of a claim rests on three checks: the rating of the DG set, the basis on which the sanctioned power load is reckoned — whether incremental or aggregated — and the ceiling fixed for the zone in question.
