About this scheme
Under the J&K Poultry Policy 2020, commercial poultry farms can obtain funding for backup power equipment.
Layer and broiler farms rearing more than 10,000 birds qualify for a 100% subsidy on a DG set, capped at Rs 4.5 lakh.
For poultry units, a generator is not a comfort. If ventilation and climate control stop working during an outage, an entire shed of birds can be lost within hours. In a UT where supply is unreliable, that makes backup power a condition of survival. A generator sized for a commercially scaled shed falls within the Rs 4.5 lakh ceiling, which the subsidy covers in full.
