About this scheme
The J&K Poultry Policy 2020 covers the insurance premium payable on a poultry unit's fixed assets.
New units that qualify, along with existing units undertaking substantial expansion beyond 10,000 birds anywhere in J&K, are reimbursed the full premium paid to insure buildings and plant and machinery. Reimbursement is available for up to 5 years, counted from the date commercial production and operations begin.
Because lenders insist on asset insurance for a financed poultry farm, the effect is to lift a compulsory operating cost for five years. The cover being reimbursed is limited to buildings and equipment; the clause does not extend to bird stock.
