About this scheme
Under the J&K Poultry Policy 2020, interest incentives on working capital are available to commercial layer and broiler farms that keep more than 10,000 birds and carry out significant expansion at any location within Jammu and Kashmir.
Working capital credit extended by scheduled commercial banks, financial institutions and comparable lenders carries an incentive of 3%. This benefit applies for the first five years, counted from the date commercial production begins.
Poultry farming is a feed-cost driven activity with a short cycle that consumes cash heavily — birds require weeks of feeding before any revenue is generated. A five-year offset on working capital interest therefore improves margins directly, unlike a single lump-sum grant.
