J&K Tourism Energy Audit Assistance

The **Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Policy – 2020** promotes sustainable tourism by covering part of the expense of an **energy audit for commercial buildings**. The assistance is structured in tiers according to the **BEE Star Rating** the building earns: a **maximum of 40%** for the lowest rated band, rising to a **maximum of 75%** for the highest, subject to a **maximum of Rs 5 lac per unit yearly**.

To avail the benefit, the unit files its **BEE Certificate stating the Star Rating**. That rating determines both whether the unit qualifies and which assistance slab it falls under. A building with a better rating thus recovers a larger proportion of its audit cost.

Since the benefit is yearly, a unit that carries out the audit again in a later year may claim once more, within the same per-unit ceiling.

- Commission an energy audit of the commercial building. - Secure the BEE Certificate that records the building's Star Rating. - File the application via the J&K Single Window portal, in accordance with the Tourism Policy 2020. - Furnish the audit invoice together with the BEE Certificate, so that the applicable assistance slab can be determined.

No competitive selection process is set out in the policy. The department's role is limited to verifying the BEE Certificate and Star Rating, which determines the rate of assistance that applies, and thereafter reimbursing the audit cost, subject to the yearly ceiling of Rs 5 lac per unit.
