LIDCOM Gattai Stall Scheme

The LIDCOM Gattai Stall Scheme, run by the Leather Industries Development Corporation (LIDCOM), a Government of Maharashtra undertaking, targets the economic uplift of the Charmakar Community. It supports roadside cobblers by covering 100% of the cost to erect a durable tin stall, giving them a permanent and respectable place to work while formalising their business operations.

This effort supports LIDCOM's wider objective of advancing educational, economic, and social development among Charmakars, including Dhor, Chambhar, Holar, and Mochi groups. By replacing transient setups with stable premises, the scheme helps members of this community secure a more dependable business environment and improve their livelihoods.

The application process for the LIDCOM Gattai Stall Scheme is carried out offline. Eligible applicants—those recognised as roadside cobblers by their Gram Panchayat—must first obtain the prescribed application form. This form is generally available at LIDCOM offices or designated local government bodies in Maharashtra. The form must be completed accurately, with all required personal, income, and community particulars furnished. Applicants will need to attach supporting documentation, including proof of residence, age, community certificate, income certificate, and Gram Panchayat identification. Once filled, the completed form and all enclosures should be submitted to the designated authority, as specified in the scheme guidelines, for verification and processing.

LIDCOM conducts the initial screening of applications to confirm that each eligibility criterion is satisfied. This verification covers residency, age, and family income, and includes confirming the applicant’s status as a roadside cobbler through certification by the relevant Gram Panchayat, as well as their membership in the Charmakar community. Following this, a designated selection committee examines all verified applications to ensure they meet the scheme’s conditions, after which it grants final approval for the subsidy.
