LIDCOM Gattai Stall Scheme

The Leather Industries Development Corporation (LIDCOM), a Government of Maharashtra undertaking, runs the LIDCOM Gattai Stall Scheme to support economically disadvantaged members of the Charmakar community. The initiative targets roadside cobblers, offering a 100% subsidy toward the construction of a durable tin stall. This support is intended to formalise their business operations and give them a permanent, respectable place to work.

The scheme forms part of LIDCOM's wider objective of promoting educational, economic, and social advancement among Charmakars, including Dhor, Chambhar, Holar, and Mochi groups. By replacing transient setups with stable premises, the programme seeks to improve livelihoods and help beneficiaries secure a more dignified position in society.

The application process for the LIDCOM Gattai Stall Scheme is carried out offline. Eligible applicants, recognised as roadside cobblers by their Gram Panchayat, must first obtain the prescribed application form. These forms are generally available at LIDCOM offices or through designated local government bodies in Maharashtra. The form must be completed accurately, with all required personal, income, and community information. Supporting documentation, including proof of residence, age, community certificate, income certificate, and Gram Panchayat identification, must accompany the application. Once filled, the completed form and all supporting documents should be submitted to the designated authority, as specified in the scheme guidelines, for verification and processing.

LIDCOM conducts the initial screening of applications to confirm that every eligibility criterion is satisfied. This verification covers residency, age, and family income, and includes confirming the applicant's status as a roadside cobbler through the relevant Gram Panchayat, along with their membership in the Charmakar community. Following this, a selection committee examines all shortlisted applications to ensure they meet the scheme's conditions, after which it grants final approval for the subsidy.
