Applications for the Power Tariff Subsidy are handled according to the procedures set out in the Maharashtra Industries Investment and Services Policy 2025. An applicant must file a detailed application with the appropriate authorities under the Maharashtra Industries Department. This generally means submitting full documentation — proof of MSME registration, certificates confirming the unit is located in Group D, D+ or below industrial areas, and other relevant financial and operational papers that establish eligibility. The process is designed to keep the application in line with all policy guidelines and to allow for an efficient review. Once submitted, an application first goes through screening and evaluation.

Under the Maharashtra Industries Investment and Services Policy 2025, each application is assessed against the criteria set out in that policy. The review centres on two things: whether the applicant qualifies as a new MSME unit, and whether it is located in Maharashtra within the industrial categories Group D, D+ or below. Compliance with the policy's remaining terms and conditions also forms part of the assessment.

This review is carried out by the concerned authorities in the Maharashtra Industries Department. Only units that meet the criteria and are fully compliant are granted the subsidy.
