Nagaland IP & Patent Cost Reimbursement

Clause 6.14 of NTIIP 2025 addresses the expense involved in securing intellectual property. Under this provision, the State bears the entire cost of intellectual property, GI tag and patent filing for every new enterprise established in Nagaland.

Covering the full cost is a rare approach — typically, State policies restrict IP support either to a share of the expense or to a fixed rupee amount — and it carries particular significance for Nagaland producers seeking GI registration for local products. The clause specifies only the rate; no rupee ceiling is prescribed.

- Submit the patent, GI tag or other IP application and settle the filing fee - Lodge an application with the Nagaland Department of Industries and Commerce as provided under clause 6.14 of NTIIP - Furnish the filing receipt or application number, together with attorney invoices and evidence of payment - Enclose the unit's registration papers confirming its status as a new enterprise in the State

Before any reimbursement is made, the Department checks two things: that the unit qualifies as a new enterprise, and that the filing costs are properly documented. Once both are confirmed, the full amount is paid back.
