About this scheme
Under Clause 6.12 of NTIIP 2025, the cost of completing transactions for secured finance is reduced. When an eligible unit signs documents to obtain a loan from a financial institution — mortgage of fixed assets included — half of the stamp duty and registration fee stands exempted under the Stamp Duty Act. This exemption remains in force for five years.
For any unit that funds plant, buildings or expansion through bank debt, the effect is that half the duty otherwise payable on every mortgage instrument executed during that five-year window is removed.
