Odisha MSME Patent Assistance

The Patent Registration Assistance programme operates under the Odisha MSME Development Policy 2022. It extends financial support to new and existing enterprises in manufacturing, services, and trading within the state. The scheme reimburses costs related to patent and IPR registration, reducing the expense of securing intellectual assets for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

This support allows businesses to protect inventions, trademarks, and creative works, supporting innovation and market competitiveness. The Government of Odisha uses this initiative to strengthen the state’s MSME ecosystem, with an emphasis on economic growth and employment generation.

Review the Odisha MSME Development Policy 2022 in full, with particular attention to Section 7.14, which contains the detailed eligibility norms, procedural instructions, and submission requirements.

Confirm that your enterprise holds a valid MSME registration through the Udyam portal. Assemble all supporting records, including evidence of business activity and financial position.

Compile the complete set of documents for the Intellectual Property Right concerned, such as patent specifications, trademark filings, or copyright particulars.

File the formal assistance request with the designated implementing authority named in the policy, attaching the relevant invoices and payment receipts for the registration fees.

The submitted application will be examined for eligibility, completeness, and conformity with the policy’s terms.

Once the review is complete and approval is granted, the admissible reimbursement will be transferred directly to the enterprise’s bank account to offset the costs of IP protection.

The evaluation of applications for patent and IPR registration assistance is carried out by a committee constituted under the Odisha MSME Development Policy. This body checks that the enterprise meets the eligibility criteria, that the IPR application is valid, and that the registration expenses claimed are accurate. After confirming that all policy provisions have been followed, the committee submits its recommendation for sanctioning the aid.
