Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE): Detailed Energy Audit

The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, operates the Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE) scheme. Under its "Detailed Energy Audit" component, manufacturing MSMEs receive an assessment that pinpoints their principal energy sources, consumption levels, instances of wasteful use, and scope for improvement.

Financial backing for professional energy audit services is extended through the scheme, which assists enterprises in trimming energy use — yielding lower costs and better environmental outcomes. For MSMEs seeking to run more efficiently and meet energy conservation standards, this support is significant.

The government's objective in backing routine energy assessments is to build energy efficiency into everyday industrial practice and bring down the carbon footprint of manufacturing operations throughout Tamil Nadu.

**Step 1: Registration**

- Go to the official portal of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Select "Login / Registration" from the top ribbon. - Complete the registration form with the required details — Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Email ID, and Mobile Number. Set a new password that satisfies the minimum security criteria (at least 8 characters, including 1 Upper Case Letter, 1 Lower Case Letter, and 1 Numeric Field). - Enter the captcha code and press "Register" to finish creating your account.

**Step 2: Login**

- Open the Login Page and select "Login". - Enter the credentials (username/email and password) sent to your registered Email ID and registered Mobile Number to sign in to your account.

**Step 3: Form Filling**

- Once logged in, hover over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and choose the relevant scheme from the dropdown menu (PEACE: Detailed Energy Audit). - On the following page, hover over "Apply Online" in the top ribbon and select "New Application" from the dropdown. - Complete every mandatory field in the Application Form. Check all entries carefully for accuracy, accept the terms and conditions, declaration, and privacy policy, then press "Proceed". - Record the reference number shown on the screen for future tracking, then press "Close".

**Step 4: Upload Documents**

- Hover over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and select "Upload Documents" from the dropdown. - On the following page, enter the Application ID obtained in the previous step and press "Submit". - On the next page, upload every mandatory document in the prescribed format and size. Make sure all documents are clear and legible. - Once the documents are uploaded, press "View" to check them for correctness and completeness.

**Step 5: Submission**

- Tick all the checkboxes displayed at the bottom of the screen to confirm your declaration, then press "Submit Application". - A confirmation message about the successful submission of the online application to GM/DIC / RJD will arrive on your registered mobile phone.

**(Optional) Step 6: Track Application Status**

- You may check your application status online through the tracking link provided. The portal may also send updates by email or SMS about your application status at different stages of processing.

Under the PEACE scheme, an applicant becomes eligible for subsidy disbursement only after a Detailed Energy Audit has been completed and certified. The audit has to be carried out by a firm empanelled with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) or by an accredited individual Energy Auditor. The resulting report must set out specific recommendations, quantitative and qualitative particulars, the estimated outlay, projections of energy and cost savings, and the payback period upon implementation.

Once the energy auditor certifies this report, it is placed before the MSME Department for verification and approval. If that review is satisfactory, the subsidy amount due is processed and released to the MSME or to its designated bank account.
