Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE): Detailed Energy Audit

The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, administers the "Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE)" scheme. Its Detailed Energy Audit component is designed to identify primary energy sources, detect usage inefficiencies, pinpoint improvement areas, and assess consumption patterns within manufacturing MSMEs.

Through this initiative, enterprises can streamline their energy use, resulting in lower operational costs and better environmental outcomes. The scheme offers financial assistance for professional energy audit services, helping MSMEs meet energy conservation standards and improve overall operational performance. By promoting periodic energy assessments, the state government seeks to embed energy efficiency practices and lower the carbon footprint of industrial activity across Tamil Nadu.

**Step 1: Registration** - Go to the official website or portal of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Select "Login / Registration" from the top ribbon. - Complete the registration form with accurate mandatory details: Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Email ID, and Mobile Number. Set a new password that satisfies the minimum security criteria (at least 8 characters, including 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 numeric character). - Enter the captcha code and click "Register" to finish creating your account.

**Step 2: Login** - Access the login page and click "Login". - Enter the credentials (username/email and password) sent to your registered email address and mobile number to enter your account.

**Step 3: Form Filling** - Once logged in, place the cursor over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and select the relevant scheme from the dropdown (PEACE: Detailed Energy Audit). - On the following page, hover over "Apply Online" in the top ribbon and choose "New Application" from the dropdown. - Complete all required fields in the application form. Verify the information for accuracy, accept the terms and conditions, declaration, and privacy policy, then click "Proceed". - Record the reference number displayed on the screen for future use, then click "Close".

**Step 4: Upload Documents** - Hover over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and click "Upload Documents" from the dropdown. - On the next page, enter the Application ID from the previous step and click "Submit". - Upload all required documents in the specified format and size. Confirm that each document is clear and readable. - After uploading, click "View" to check the documents for accuracy and completeness.

**Step 5: Submission** - Tick all the checkboxes at the bottom of the screen to confirm your declaration, then click "Submit Application". - A confirmation notice about the successful online submission to GM/DIC / RJD will be sent to your registered mobile number.

**(Optional) Step 6: Track Application Status** - Monitor the progress of your application online using the provided tracking link. The portal may also send email or SMS updates about your application status at different processing stages.

Disbursement of the subsidy under the PEACE scheme depends on the completion and certification of a Detailed Energy Audit. The applicant must engage a Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) empanelled auditing firm or an accredited individual Energy Auditor. The audit produces a comprehensive report that must include specific recommendations, quantitative and qualitative details, estimated outlay, projections of energy and cost savings, and the payback period after implementation.

Once the energy auditor certifies the report, it is submitted to the MSME Department for verification and approval. After a satisfactory review of the certified report, the eligible subsidy amount is processed and released to the MSME or their designated bank account.
