Eligibility conditions:
- Individual fish farmers who construct new grow-out ponds, with pond area not exceeding 2 ha. - Groups of fishers and fish farmers — SHGs, JLGs and fisher cooperatives — with pond area not exceeding 20 ha. - FFPOs and FFPCs. - Beneficiaries belonging to SC/ST categories and women beneficiaries are assisted at the higher per-hectare rate.
How to apply
1. Draft a proposal for the pond area proposed for construction, calculated at the unit cost of ₹7.00 lakh per hectare. 2. File the proposal with the District or State Fisheries Officer under PMMSY. 3. Enclose land ownership or lease papers, particulars of the water source, and a category certificate in cases where the higher rate is being claimed. 4. Groups must, in addition, furnish registration particulars and details of members. 5. The State Fisheries Department appraises the proposal and accords sanction under the Annual Action Plan. 6. Funds are released once the constructed ponds have been physically verified.

State and UT Fisheries Departments assess proposals for conformity with PMMSY activity norms and unit costs, rank them within the outlay set by the approved Annual Action Plan, and pass them on for sanction. Assistance is released only after the asset created has been physically verified.
