About this scheme

Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries extends support for seaweed cultivation through the monoline / tubenet method, which appears as item 2.6 in the scheme's mariculture activity list and covers inputs. A single unit works out to roughly 15 ropes, each 25 metres long.

Against a benchmarked unit cost of ₹0.08 lakh, government assistance stands at ₹0.032 lakh (₹3,200) per unit for a general beneficiary, rising to ₹0.048 lakh (₹4,800) per unit for beneficiaries belonging to SC/ST/Women categories. Where a group applies, support may cover 100 units for Kappaphycus and as many as 300 units for Gracilaria species.

Applications are routed through the State/UT Fisheries Department.
