About this scheme
## Capital Investment Subsidy (for New and Existing Industries)
The Industries and Commerce Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry runs the Capital Investment Subsidy (for New and Existing Industries) as part of a larger programme titled "Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Capital Intensive Industries." The scheme came into force on 1st April 2017 with the purpose of supporting industrial growth throughout Puducherry through financial assistance.
Enterprises and entrepreneurs who qualify can receive a subsidy of up to 45% on their investment in fixed assets, which covers land, buildings, and plant and machinery. Micro and Small Enterprises, Medium and Large Industries, and other business categories fall within its scope. Units promoted by Women, Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) entrepreneurs receive additional incentives.
The scheme works to ease the financial load of capital expenditure. It does so by encouraging the setting up of new industrial units and helping existing ones expand or modernise. Through this fiscal assistance, the Puducherry government aims to spur economic activity, create jobs, and build a more favourable climate for industrial development in the Union Territory.
