Employment Incentive

The Industries and Commerce Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry runs the Employment Incentive as one component of its "Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries" Scheme. Through fiscal assistance to new units, the scheme seeks to promote industrial growth and employment across the UT.

Under this component, a wage or employment subsidy is paid at 20% of the wage or salary, subject to a ceiling of ₹5,00,000 per annum. It applies to workers whose salaries fall under the Provident Fund (PF).

New units that begin production on or after August 2, 2004 are eligible, and the incentive runs for five years from the date production commences. The measure is intended to lower the employment-related operating costs of newly set up industries, supporting business development and job creation in Puducherry.

1. **Download the form**: The prescribed application form is available for download on the Official Website of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Puducherry. 2. **Fill in the form**: Complete every mandatory field and enclose copies of all documents that are required. Self-attestation must be done wherever it is called for. 3. **File the application**: The completed and signed form, together with the supporting documents, must be submitted to the concerned authority within the Industries Department. 4. **Collect the acknowledgement**: Ask the authority for a receipt or acknowledgement, and check that it carries the submission date, time and, where applicable, a unique identification number. 5. The Industries Department processes the application for sanctions; it does not need to be placed before the State Level Committee.

The Industries Department handles applications and secures the required sanctions. This particular incentive does not require cases to be referred to the State Level Committee. Review centres on confirming that the industrial unit meets the eligibility criteria and that every document required is complete and correct.
