About this scheme
The Infrastructure Subsidy forms part of the "Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries" Scheme, which the Industries and Commerce Department, Union Territory of Puducherry, administers. Through this component, financial assistance is extended towards infrastructure development to support industrial growth in the Union Territory.
Industrial units and infrastructure developers that commit substantial investment to building construction are the intended recipients, with the IT and biotechnology sectors specifically in view. By covering a share of the capital expenditure involved in putting up factories or facilities, the subsidy seeks to encourage the emergence of strong industrial ecosystems.
The programme also aims to draw fresh investment and to back the expansion and modernisation of units already in operation. In doing so, it is expected to contribute to employment generation and to the diversification of Puducherry's economy.
