About this scheme

The "Assistance for Intellectual Property Protection Support" forms part of the wider "Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries - Various Incentives" scheme, run by the Industries and Commerce Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry. It began on April 1, 2017, and operates throughout the UT of Puducherry, with the aim of reducing the financial load of intellectual property (IP) protection to support industrial growth.

The scheme targets Micro, Small, Medium, and Large Industries, helping them secure their intellectual assets both in India and abroad. It offers financial aid for patent-related expenses, covering costs such as application fees, so that innovations are not blocked by high registration charges. This support is intended to strengthen the competitive position of businesses and aid regional economic development, reflecting Puducherry's focus on encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in its industrial base.
