About this scheme
The Capital Investment Subsidy forms part of the Puducherry government's wider 'Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries' Scheme. It is run by the Department of Industrial Development (Industries and Commerce) and is intended to support the expansion of the Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) sectors in the Union Territory.
Under this component, new industrial units receive financial assistance towards substantial capital spending on plant and machinery that is essential to their operations. By granting a subsidy directly against such investments, the scheme lightens the financial load on entrepreneurs, promotes industrialisation, and helps build conditions favourable to innovation and job creation within Puducherry's fast-developing IT/ITES sector.
Eligibility is limited to new units that began production on or after November 6, 2002. This cut-off is meant to ensure that more recently established ventures get the support they need for steady growth and development.

Frequently asked questions
What is the primary benefit of this scheme?
Plant and machinery investment by IT/ITES units attracts a capital investment subsidy of 20%, capped at ₹20,00,000/-, which lowers the financial burden on these units.
Who is eligible to apply for this subsidy?
IT/ITES industrial units that began production on or after 6th November 2002 qualify, covering large, medium, small and micro enterprises within the notified sectors.
