The Generator Subsidy forms part of the 'Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries - Various Incentives' scheme, administered by the Industries and Commerce Department, Union Territory of Puducherry. Operational since April 1, 2017, the initiative provides financial support for the purchase and installation of power generators, targeting micro, small, medium, and large industrial units across the region.

This assistance addresses the requirement for dependable power supply, which is necessary for uninterrupted production activities. Both new and existing industrial units can utilise the subsidy for capital investments, supporting job creation and economic stability in Puducherry. The application process is offline, with disbursement guidelines clearly specified, enabling eligible businesses to enhance their operational resilience and productivity.

- Step 1: Download the prescribed application form from the official website of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Puducherry (https://industry.py.gov.in/common-application-subsidies). - Step 2: Complete every mandatory field in the form with full accuracy. Verify that all particulars relating to the industrial unit, generator purchase, and investment are correct. - Step 3: Enclose self-attested copies of each required document listed in the guidelines. These may include incorporation papers, purchase invoices, installation evidence, and employment records. - Step 4: Submit the signed and completed application, together with all supporting documents, to the designated officer at the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Puducherry. - Step 5: Obtain and keep an official receipt or acknowledgement from the authority, confirming the date and time of submission and, where issued, a unique identification number. - Application Deadlines: For new units, the application must be submitted within one year from the date of obtaining the Entrepreneurs Memorandum Part-2, Permanent Registration, or the Commencement of Production Certificate. For existing units, the application must be submitted within one year of the completion of Expansion, Diversification, or Modernization activities.

Applications are initially reviewed by the Directorate of Industries, which assesses eligibility on merit and calculates the admissible incentive or subsidy amount. The findings and recommendations from this stage are forwarded to the State Level Committee.

The committee then conducts a detailed examination of each case to decide whether the industrial unit qualifies for the grant and to finalise the exact quantum of financial assistance.
