About this scheme

The Industries and Commerce Department of the Union Territory of Puducherry operates the Generator Subsidy as one component of its wider 'Motivation of Entrepreneurs to Start Industries and Fiscal Assistance to Industries - Various Incentives' scheme. The scheme has been in force since 1 April 2017 and extends across Puducherry, with the objective of strengthening the region's industrial base through financial assistance.

Micro, small, medium and large industrial units are the intended recipients. Assistance is directed at the purchase and installation of power generators, addressing the need for dependable power supply that industrial operations require in order to run without interruption.

Both new and existing units may draw on the scheme to make these capital investments. Applications are submitted offline, and disbursement follows defined guidelines.

How applications are assessed

Once an application is received, the Directorate of Industries examines it on merit to verify eligibility and work out how much incentive or subsidy can be allowed. Its observations and recommendations are then placed before the State Level Committee.

The Committee reviews each case in detail on its merits and takes the final call on whether the industrial unit is eligible for the incentive or subsidy, along with the exact amount of financial assistance payable to it.
