About this scheme
Safeguarding the output of your in-house R&D does not come cheap. Drafting, filing, prosecution and renewal fees in multiple jurisdictions mount up well before the intellectual property generates any returns. Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2024, manufacturing enterprises can share that burden with the State.
Where the R&D is carried out in-house, **the State bears 50% of the expenditure incurred, subject to a ceiling of INR 1 crore**, covering **patents, copyright, trademarks and the registration of geographical indicators**. Since all four categories of IP fall within the same limit, an enterprise with a continuing filing programme may combine them into a single claim.
Disbursement is against expenditure actually incurred. An applicant therefore files first and claims reimbursement afterwards, following the RIPS 2024 procedure available on Rajasthan's single-window investment portal.

How to apply
1. Enrol the enterprise on the Rajnivesh single-window portal. 2. Submit the patent, copyright, trademark or GI applications and settle the corresponding fees. 3. Lodge the RIPS 2024 IP incentive claim. 4. Attach the filing receipts, attorney invoices and payment proofs. 5. Provide evidence that the IP originates from the enterprise's in-house R&D.
How applications are assessed
There is no competitive selection involved. Before any funds are released, the department carries out verification that the intellectual property stems from in-house research and development, and it examines the costs that have been claimed. Once these checks are satisfied, 50% of the amount is disbursed, subject to a ceiling of INR 1 crore.
