About this scheme

The "Swavalambi/Sanchari Marata Malige" scheme is run by the Karnataka Leather Industries Development Corporation Ltd, in association with the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka. Its purpose is to support Scheduled Caste (SC) leather artisans by offering financial assistance. This help allows them to open their own retail showrooms or purchase mobile vans.

Through this arrangement, artisans can sell their handmade leather goods directly to customers. The scheme is intended to improve their access to markets, steady their earnings, and strengthen their financial autonomy. It also works to encourage self-employment and business ownership among SC members involved in conventional leather work.
