Low Tension Power Tariff (LTPT) Subsidy

The Low Tension Power Tariff (LTPT) Subsidy scheme, operated by the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, lowers electricity expenses for qualifying MSMEs in the state. Businesses receive a 20% reduction on low tension power tariffs for 36 months. This period begins from the date production starts or the date a power connection is obtained, whichever is later, and follows the allotment of an Entrepreneur Memorandum (Part 2) number from the District Industries Centres.

Applications must be submitted within three months of that later date. The scheme covers newly established manufacturing units and existing enterprises that undertake major expansion or diversification.

1. Registration: Go to the official portal of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Select "Login / Registration" from the top ribbon. Enter the required details (Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Email ID, Mobile Number), set a new password that meets the complexity criteria, input the captcha code, and press "Register". 2. Login: Access the login page and click "Login". Use the credentials sent to your registered email address and mobile number to enter the portal. 3. Form Filling: Once logged in, place the cursor over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and choose the relevant scheme from the list. On the subsequent page, hover over "Apply Online" and select "New Application". Complete every mandatory field in the application form, verify the details entered, accept the terms and conditions, declaration, and privacy policy, and then click "Proceed". Record the reference number displayed on the screen and click "Close". 4. Upload Documents: Next, hover over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and click "Upload Documents". Enter the Application ID on the following page and click "Submit". Upload all required documents in the prescribed format and size. After uploading, use the "View" option to confirm that the documents are accurate. 5. Submission: Tick all the checkboxes at the bottom of the page and click "Submit Application". A confirmation about the online application being forwarded to GM/DIC / RJD will be sent to your mobile number. 6. (Optional) Track Application Status: Monitor the progress of your application through the provided portal link, with updates also available via email or SMS.

The District Industries Centres (DIC) examine each application against the scheme’s eligibility conditions, using the information provided by the applicant. Their review covers the enterprise’s size category (Micro, Small, or Medium), its registered location in Tamil Nadu, the type of manufacturing or agro-based work undertaken, and confirmation that the unit operates on a Low Tension Power supply (Tariff III B). Before any subsidy is sanctioned, the DIC verifies that the requirements for a new enterprise, or for an expansion or diversification case, are fully satisfied.
