Low Tension Power Tariff (LTPT) Subsidy

The Low Tension Power Tariff (LTPT) Subsidy scheme, operated by the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, lowers electricity expenses for qualifying MSMEs in the state. It offers a 20% subsidy on low tension power tariffs for 36 months, helping businesses reduce operational costs and support industrial activity.

The subsidy period begins from the later of two dates: the start of production or the date of obtaining a power connection, provided this follows the allotment of an Entrepreneur Memorandum (Part 2) number from the District Industries Centres. Applicants must submit their LTPT subsidy application within three months of that later date to receive the benefit.

The scheme covers newly established manufacturing units as well as existing enterprises that undertake significant expansion or diversification, contributing to Tamil Nadu's economic development and industrial competitiveness.

1. Registration: Go to the official portal of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. Select "Login / Registration" from the top ribbon. Enter the required details (Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Email ID, Mobile Number), set a new password that meets the complexity criteria, input the captcha code, and press "Register". 2. Login: Access the login page and click "Login". Use the credentials sent to your registered email address and mobile number to enter the portal. 3. Form Filling: After logging in, place the cursor over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and choose the relevant scheme from the list. On the following page, hover over "Apply Online" and select "New Application" from the dropdown. Complete all compulsory fields in the application form, verify the information, accept the terms and conditions, declaration, and privacy policy, and then click "Proceed". Record the reference number displayed on the screen and click "Close". 4. Upload Documents: Next, hover over "Schemes" in the top ribbon and click "Upload Documents" from the dropdown. Enter the Application ID on the subsequent page and click "Submit". Upload all required documents in the prescribed format and size. After uploading, click "View" to confirm that the documents are correct. 5. Submission: Tick all the checkboxes at the bottom of the screen and click "Submit Application". A notification confirming the submission of the online application to GM/DIC / RJD will be sent to your mobile phone. 6. Track Application Status (Optional): Monitor the progress of your application online through the provided portal link, which may also send updates via email or SMS.

The District Industries Centres (DIC) examine each application against the scheme’s eligibility conditions, using the information provided. Their review covers the enterprise’s size category (Micro, Small, or Medium), its location within Tamil Nadu, the type of manufacturing or agro-based work undertaken, and confirmation of its Low Tension Power supply under Tariff III B. The DIC also verifies that the requirements for either new units or for expansion and diversification are satisfied before the subsidy is sanctioned.
