Subsidy for Asset Creation for Intellectual Property: Patent Registration

The Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, administers the 'Subsidy for Asset Creation for Intellectual Property: Patent Registration' scheme. It provides financial support to MSMEs in the state for creating and registering intellectual property, both domestically and internationally. The objective is to lower the cost of patenting, encouraging innovation and improving the competitive position of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The scheme addresses the financial constraints associated with securing patents, promoting a culture of invention and technological progress among MSMEs. 1. **Registration**: Access the official portal and select 'Login / Registration'. Complete the mandatory fields, which include Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Email ID, and Mobile Number. Set a password that meets the specified criteria, enter the captcha, and press 'Register'. 2. **Login**: Navigate to the Login Page and click 'Login'. Use the credentials sent to your registered Email ID and Mobile Number to gain access. 3. **Form Filling**: Once logged in, place the cursor over 'Schemes' in the top ribbon and choose the relevant scheme from the dropdown menu. On the subsequent page, hover over 'Apply Online' and select 'New Application' from the dropdown. Complete every mandatory field in the Application Form, verify all entered details carefully, accept the terms and conditions, declaration, and privacy policy, and then click 'Proceed'. Record the reference number displayed on the screen and click 'Close'. 4. **Upload Documents**: Hover over 'Schemes' in the top ribbon and select 'Upload Documents' from the dropdown. On the next page, enter the Application ID and click 'Submit'. Then, upload all required documents in the prescribed format and size. After uploading, click 'View' to confirm that the documents have been uploaded correctly. 5. **Submission**: Tick all the checkboxes at the bottom of the screen and click 'Submit Application'. A confirmation message about the online application's submission to GM/DIC / RJD will be sent to your mobile phone. 6. **(Optional) Track Application Status**: Monitor the progress of your application online through the provided tracking link. The portal may also send status updates via email or SMS.

Applications are submitted online and handled by the GM/DIC / RJD (General Manager / District Industries Centre / Regional Joint Director). The screening checks the application details and uploaded documents against the scheme’s eligibility criteria. Claims up to ₹1,00,000 may not require documents, which suggests a simplified process for smaller amounts; larger subsidies go through complete document verification. Final approval and disbursement depend on the successful validation of the patent registration and related costs.
