About this scheme

The State Capital Investment Subsidy operates as a sub-scheme within the West Bengal Incentive Scheme, introduced on February 22, 2021, by the Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal. Its validity extends until December 31, 2025. The parent scheme seeks to enable entrepreneurs, especially self-employed youth, to start or expand ventures, helping them transition into employers and generate employment across the state.

This subsidy targets eligible micro and small enterprises in the tourism sector. It offers financial support based on fixed capital investment, covering building construction, plant and machinery, and equipment installed for pollution control within tourism units. The assistance eases upfront capital costs, supports modernisation, and encourages environmentally sound operations, contributing to sustainable development and strengthening West Bengal's position as a tourist destination.

How applications are assessed

Applications for the State Capital Investment Subsidy are assessed through a staged procedure. In the first stage, a project must obtain approval and sanction from a recognised financial institution, including Central Financial Institutions, Commercial Banks, or State Financial Institutions. Thereafter, the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited issues the mandatory certificates—Registration Certificate, Date of Commencement Certificate, and Eligibility Certificate—once it is satisfied that the requisite arrangements are in place.
