About this scheme

The Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal, introduced the West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme on 13 December 2022. It offers fiscal incentives to textile units establishing operations in the state, covering the whole value chain from fibre through to stitched garments. The scheme's objectives are to speed up textile sector development, make fuller use of resources, create employment, and establish West Bengal as a preferred location for textile investment.

Under the State Capital Investment Subsidy sub-scheme, eligible textile enterprises receive financial support for approved projects. The subsidy amount depends on the type of manufacturing activity undertaken.

The scheme is intended to strengthen the competitiveness of textile units and encourage industrial growth within the state.

How applications are assessed

Assessment of applications rests on the full set of eligibility criteria together with the character of the textile manufacturing project being proposed. A key condition is prior approval and sanction of the project by a Central Financial Institution, Commercial Bank, or State Financial Institution, which establishes its financial viability and compliance with accepted banking norms.

Once all arrangements and conditions set out in the scheme guidelines are met, the Directorate of Textiles issues the Registration, Commencement, and Eligibility Certificates. Disbursement of the subsidy follows only after every scheme parameter has been satisfied and verification completed successfully.
