About this scheme
The West Bengal Textile Incentive Scheme (WBTIS) was introduced on December 13, 2022, by the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal. It remains in force for five years. The scheme provides fiscal incentives across the textile value chain — from fibre through to stitched garments — for units set up within the state, with the aim of supporting focused and accelerated growth of the textile industry in West Bengal.
Power Subsidy operates as a sub-scheme under WBTIS, offering direct financial relief to eligible textile enterprises. Under this incentive, approved projects receive a power subsidy on electricity consumption for five years, starting from the date of production. Disbursement is made on a reimbursement basis, and the subsidy applies to electricity drawn from any licensed power supplier for manufacturing activities.
The support is directed at improving resource utilisation, creating employment, expanding operational areas, and establishing West Bengal as a preferred investment destination for the textile sector.
