About this scheme
Ladakh's industrial estates face a shortage of land, with demand far exceeding supply. To address this, the Sustainable Industrial Policy Ladakh 2022-27 earmarks a portion of plots for specific groups. Ten per cent of plots in these estates are set aside for entrepreneurs from underprivileged sections, provided as an extra incentive in addition to the policy's other advantages.
Within the women category, the reserved groups are single mothers and widows. The specially abled category covers individuals with at least 40% physical disability. All third gender persons are also included.
This reservation functions as a preference in allotment, not as a cash benefit. It raises the likelihood of obtaining a plot, though the plot itself is allotted according to the estate's standard terms.
