About this scheme

Under Clause 3.4.6.iii.a of the Meghalaya Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (MIIPP) 2024, an industrial unit can claim back 75% of what it spends on a Water Audit. The payout is capped at Rs 1 lakh.

The reimbursement is not automatic. It depends on the outcome of the audit: the unit's water consumption must fall by at least 25% as a result.

Eligibility is open to every unit, irrespective of size.

- Arrange for a water audit of the Meghalaya-based unit - Carry out the measures recommended in the audit and keep records of the water saved as a result - Submit the reimbursement claim through the Invest Meghalaya single window, attaching the audit report, invoices and consumption data - The department releases the reimbursement after it has verified that the 25% saving has been achieved

How applications are assessed

The Commerce and Industries Department reviews each claim under MIIPP 2024, checking it against the eligible cost and the size category of the unit concerned. No competitive selection process applies.
