Mizoram Skilling Incentive for MSMEs

Under the Industrial and Investment Policy of Mizoram 2025, the cost of workforce development is shared with the state. A new MSME unit that conducts training or re-skilling for its employees is eligible to recover as much as 50% of the expenditure incurred, subject to a cap of Rs 2 lakh per training per annum.

Approval is granted on a case-to-case basis, and the proposal itself carries the weight in the decision. It must specify the persons being trained, the venue of the training, the skills being upgraded, the outcomes anticipated and the cost involved.

The proposal has to be submitted before the expenditure is committed.

- Draft a training proposal that sets out the trainees, the venue, the skills to be upgraded, the expected outcomes and the costs - Send it to the Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Mizoram, which grants approval on a case-to-case basis - Carry out the training and keep the trainer invoices, attendance records and payment proof on file - Submit the reimbursement claim together with the approved proposal and the expenditure documents

The Department of Commerce & Industries reviews each proposal individually. Before releasing any support, it evaluates the trainees involved, the skills to be imparted, the outcomes anticipated and the cost entailed.
