Central government
The Commerce and Industries Department is the Government of Mizoram's administrative arm for industrial development and commerce throughout the state. It operates via district offices spanning Mizoram's districts and supervises several state public sector undertakings, namely ZIDCO, MKVIB, MIFPA, MAMCO, BDA and ZOHANDCO.
Its policy framework comprises the Industrial and Investment Policy of Mizoram 2025 and the Mizoram Procurement Preference Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises, 2025, the latter of which reserves procurement preference for small enterprises. The department administers a combination of state and centrally sponsored schemes for entrepreneurs and small manufacturers, including the state's Bana Kaih handholding support, One District One Product, UNNATI 2024, and food-processing programmes such as the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme.
The department is also responsible for industrial infrastructure. It publishes the status of declared industrial areas, a land bank, and the register of enterprises at the industrial growth centre at Luangmual.
