Odisha Green Measures Subsidy

The Green Measures Subsidy sits within Odisha's Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 and is intended to advance sustainable industrial practices throughout the state. Financial incentives under the scheme are available to new as well as existing industrial units that operate in Odisha's notified Priority and Thrust Sectors.

The scheme's central purpose is to nudge industries towards environmentally sound technologies and infrastructure by covering a substantial share of what they invest. Applications for the Green Measures Subsidy are ordinarily made by lodging a detailed proposal with the concerned department under the Government of Odisha, in line with the Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 guidelines. An applicant would usually need to furnish documents relating to the industrial unit, evidence that it operates within a Priority or Thrust Sector, and comprehensive particulars of the green measures proposed, covering investment costs and technical civil works. Once lodged, the application is screened and evaluated by the designated authorities, who assess eligibility as well as whether the proposed green initiatives are viable. Where an application is shortlisted, additional clarifications or site visits may be sought prior to final approval and release of the subsidy on the terms set out in the policy.

The Industries Department, Government of Odisha, constitutes a committee to review applications. This committee checks whether the industrial unit qualifies, examines the type and extent of the green measures proposed, looks into the investment made in new plant and machinery as well as technical civil works, and confirms that the proposal matches the aims of the Industrial Policy Resolution 2022.

The committee also verifies that each project falls under the specified green measures and that the investment claimed can be justified. Units are selected on this basis for disbursement of the subsidy.
