The Department of Industries functions as the Arunachal Pradesh state government's nodal body for industrial development, investment promotion and entrepreneur support. It carries out state policy — among them the Arunachal Pradesh Industrial Development and Investment Policy, 2025 and the earlier State Industrial Policy 2020 — and also delivers central schemes meant for the North East, including the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization (UNNATI) Scheme, 2024 and the North East Industrial Development Scheme.
Its infrastructure remit covers growth centres, industrial estates and notified industrial areas across the state, which it builds and maintains, together with MSME testing facilities and training. Entrepreneur-facing work includes Udyam registration, the appointment of Udyam Mitra industry facilitators on a contractual basis, engagement of district resource persons under the PMFME scheme, and coordination with an Entrepreneurship Development Institute and ease-of-doing-business measures.
Founders and small manufacturers reach the department through its scheme notifications and district-level facilitation channels.
